To conclude our anniversary year, Galerie Ron Mandos warmly invites you to three exceptional exhibitions featuring artists who have been part of the gallery from the very beginning. These artists, all based in Rotterdam—the city where Ron Mandos opened his gallery 25 years ago—each bring a unique perspective on the theme of landscapes through diverse styles and media. Their works explore nature, technology, memory, and more, celebrating the creative spirit that has defined our gallery since its inception.
Festive Opening:
The public opening will take place on Saturday, 23 November, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Galerie Ron Mandos. We are honoured that Wim Pijbes, Director of Stichting Droom & Daad in Rotterdam, will officially open the exhibition.
Geert Mul: Gardens of Event
Geert Mul is renowned for his innovative approach to media art, using technology to explore the relationship between data, memory, and place. Over the years, he has created works that challenge viewers to reflect on how digital culture influences our perception of time and space.
In this exhibition, Mul focuses on the concept of landscapes. Drawing on his deep understanding of media history, he investigates how digital and physical worlds intertwine. His work invites contemplation on how technology shapes our perception of nature, offering a compelling view of contemporary life.
Ron van der Ende: Alluvial Plain
Ron van der Ende is a sculptor known for his relief works crafted from reclaimed wood. Through his art, he transforms everyday materials into three-dimensional landscapes, expressing his fascination with the built environment and natural forms.
Based in Rotterdam, Van der Ende often explores themes such as time, history, and humanity’s impact on nature. This exhibition marks a new phase in his practice, with an intensified focus on landscapes and their layered meanings. His presentation prompts reflection on the delicate balance between human ambition and the slow, enduring processes of nature.
Renie Spoelstra: Through the Clouds
Renie Spoelstra is celebrated for her monumental charcoal drawings, which capture the mysterious, atmospheric qualities of landscapes. Her work draws inspiration from untouched and remote locations, ranging from the rugged Dutch coastlines to the misty highlands of Peru.
In her art, Spoelstra captures the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and movement. For this exhibition, she focuses on fleeting moments when nature reveals its beauty—through drifting clouds and ever-changing light. The result is a timeless and profoundly moving experience.
