On 2 June, at 14:00, we invite you to a special event featuring our former resident Kim Darbouze. As part of Amsterdam Art Week, Kim will present a brief poetry and dance performance, followed by a Q&A session with refreshments.

Kim Darbouze is an artist and scholar (KITLV) who conducts research from a psychosocial perspective on colonialism, the legacies of slavery, and collective healing. Kim integrates scientific research and artistic practice, which is still an emerging field within the academic world. By bridging these two realms, the dominant narrative within science is challenged. In the performance Kim presents this afternoon, she builds upon previous work that focuses on the eco-geopolitical repercussions of colonial exploitation. Natural resources have been plundered, turned into objects. People have also been objectified, resulting in forced migration, warfare, the depletion of bodies, feelings of vulnerability, and exclusion. Dance and poetry provide a space to express these experiences when words fall short.
