Saturday, October 21st, the group exhibition ‘Echoes’ will open at GoMulan Gallery from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The exhibition features artwork by Jonat Deelstra, Émilie Terlinden, Ulrike Rehm, and Dion Rosina. The exhibition will be on display until November 12th.
The work of all these artists is closely related to art history. A book about Jonat Deelstra’s work (1991) will be presented during PAN Amsterdam. This publication is written by Edwin Becker, the head curator of the Van Gogh Museum. In the publication, Becker places Deelstra’s work in a personal and art-historical context from the late nineteenth century. Émilie Terlinden (1983) paints still lifes inspired by the works of Renaissance masters. Ulrike Rehm’s (1976) sculptures and installations depict a world full of ancient myths, often referencing ancient techniques such as graffito and encaustic, as well as featuring imagery like the Lamb. Dion Rosina (1991) creates serene paintings based on collages with art historical references. In his work, Rosina draws inspiration from contemporary painting, Emory Douglas, old masters like Albrecht Dürer, and extinct civilizations, including sculptures from the Khmer Empire and the Aztec civilization.
