On the occasion of Amsterdam Art Week, Annet Gelink Gallery is proud to dedicate its project space The Bakery to the screening of Marijke van Warmerdam’s ‘Per Sempre’.
Filmed with a handheld camera during the artist’s stay in Rome, the looped video follows the perpetual love letters offered by the balustrades of Ponte Milvio bridge over the Tiber, adorned by thousands of scribbled declarations and symbols. Through the bustling sounds of Rome – passers-by, footsteps, and trolley suitcases – Van Warmerdam is effortlessly able to create a dialogue between opposing movements, grounding the ethereal beauty of love in the everyday.
The film was made possible thanks to the support of the MondrianFonds.
