We proudly present The video “The Eiffel Towers”in the gallery. It is the first time this video is on display in the Netherlands.

Ghita Skali’s work takes as an initial impulse investigations around anecdotes which appeared in the media and have been later forgotten and / or erased. Her work consists of installations, interventions, performances and video.

Her video “The Eiffel Towers”, is about the construction of an Eiffel Tower in Fez in Morocco. At the end of 2013, an Eiffel Tower was installed on a roundabout in the city of Fes. Later on, it was removed. How does an object become integrated into the collective unconscious of a society? What is claimed to be Art installed at a roundabout? In which way do individuals perceive these objects? Objects from a different culture, copied, coming from the former colonizer. Her work consists of installations, interventions, performances and video.

Born in Casablanca, Ghita Skali studied at Villa Arson in Nice (France) and attended the post-graduate programs of the Fine Arts academy in Lyon in 2016 and De Ateliers in Amsterdam from 2018 until 2020.

Recently her work was presented in the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Manifattura Tabacchi (Florance), Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Das Weisse Hause (Vienna) and Kulte Gallery (Rabat).
Her video’s The Invaders  and The Hole’s Journey are both acquired by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
