The WG-studios celebrate their 40th Anniversary of existence in September – October with an array of celebrations. For 40 years the WG-premises has been a green oasis for the arts in the Centre of Amsterdam with studios, homes and little companies and organisations.
Open Ateliers Weekend – 28 – 29 September 2024
12:00- 17:00
More than 60 WG-artists will open their ateliers in the WG-Pavilions 18, 19 and in WG-Pavilions 1 and 2.
In Amsterdam Oud-West, you will find one of the most beautiful living and working areas in the Netherlands. For forty years, the former hospital buildings of the old Wilhelmina Gasthuis have formed a green oasis for the arts in the heart of Amsterdam, home to studios, residences, small businesses, civil society organizations, and associations. Pavilions 1 and 2 together make up the Housing and Work Association WG-terrein. These pavilions consist of around 80 residential and 35 work units, accommodating civil society organizations, artists, and start-up small businesses.
Pavilions 18 and 19, once the women’s clinic and ophthalmology clinic, now house 120 artists’ studios that together form AtelierWG. During the Open Studios event on the 28th and 29th of September, more than 80 artists will open their studios to the public.
Everyone is welcome to stop by. Located at WG-Plein, opposite number 80. Pick up a map to guide your visit.
2024 WG-PREMISES 40th Anniversary Celebration Group Exhibition – 28 September – 6 October 2024.
12:00-17:00 / 14:00-17:00
See the works of more than 80 WG-Artists in puntWG.
Since its founding in 1984, dozens of artists have been working on the WG site. They usually do this in the privacy of their studio, but now, on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the site, the work of many of them is brought together for one time in a special exhibition in the PuntWG exhibition space. From September 28 to October 6, WG Veertig will feature work by around eighty WG artists – one work by each artist, maximum A3 format. An exhibition as one big gathering of all the energy that normally swirls around invisibly at the WG, but is now, for once, coming out in a powerful and concentrated manner.
Opening hours:
28 & 29 September, 12:00 – 17:00
30 September – 20 October, 14:00 – 17:00 (extended)
