40th Anniversary Celebration of the WG-terrain Amsterdam in September – October 2024. For forty years, the WG-terrain has been a green oasis for the arts in the heart of Amsterdam, home to studios, residences, small businesses, organisations, and associations.
WG40 in 2024 Open Studios – 28 – 29 September 2024

To mark the 40th anniversary of the WG studios in Amsterdam, over sixty artists will open their studios on Saturday 28 and Sunday afternoon 29 September 2024, from 12 to 5 PM, at WG pavilions 18, 19, and 1 & 2.
In Amsterdam Oud-West, you’ll find one of the most beautiful live-work sites in the Netherlands. The former hospital buildings of the Wilhelmina Gasthuis have, for forty years, provided a green oasis for the arts, right in the centre of Amsterdam, featuring studios, residences, small businesses, social organisations, and associations.
Pavilions 1 and 2 together form the WG-terrain Residential and Work Association. These pavilions house around 80 residential and 35 work units, with social organisations, artists, and small start-up businesses.
Pavilions 18 and 19, the former women’s clinic and ophthalmology clinic, are home to 120 artist studios that make up atelierWG. On 28 and 29 September, during the Open Studios event, more than 80 artists will open their studios to the public. Everyone is welcome to drop in!
Central Jubilee Exhibition – 28 September – 6 October 2024, puntWG

From 28 September to 6 October 2024, a central jubilee exhibition will be organised at puntWG, inspired by the fortieth anniversary of this green WG oasis in the heart of Amsterdam.
Since its founding in 1984, many dozens of artists have worked on the WG-terrain. They usually do this within the privacy of their studios, but now, on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the site, the work of a large part of them will be brought together for one special exhibition in the exhibition space puntWG. From 28 September to 6 October, the exhibition WG Forty will showcase one piece from approximately eighty WG artists, with each work no larger than A3 size. It will be an exhibition that serves as a powerful convergence of all the energy that typically resonates invisibly within the WG but will now be presented in a concentrated and vibrant manner.
