Alfredo Cramerotti is a curator, writer, broadcaster, publisher, and organiser of modern and contemporary art, film and video, performance, photography, conference, and Verse/online formats.

Art is an important part of Alfredo’s life. He is immersed in it on a daily basis – curating, producing, writing, publishing, speaking on, coaching, and much more. You can take him out of the art world, but you probably won’t be able to take the art world out of him. Alfredo doesn’t have a singular ideal way to experience art. However, due to frequently working at the intersection of art and advanced technologies, he has learned to approach art from various perspectives, contexts, and situations.

Alfredo’s perspective on art collection as a curator is intriguing. He doesn’t collect for a deontological reason. As a curator, he wants to have a mental distance to what he selects or advises for exhibitions, commissions, or mediation. It’s less about what he likes or not, and more about what makes sense to show for a particular project or event. With that in mind, he has a big passion for old masters’ portraits and even has a few of those! He is especially intrigued by anonymous close-up portraits, from the years 1300 to 1700.

Alfredo particularly enjoys the vibrancy and diversity of Amsterdam’s art scene. Amsterdam’s uniqueness lies in the wide range of art it offers, spanning from old masters to NFTs, encompassing both public and private collections as well as institutional and commercial spaces. According to Alfredo, this rich diversity is what makes Amsterdam’s art scene special.
