Molly Palmer works between film, installation, sculpture and choreography. Her protagonists inhabit layered video worlds where music, gesture and dialogue explore the strangeness within ordinary things.

Following research into the relationship between medicine and magic, their spaces navigate the potential of symbolism and mythology to function as technologies of personal transformation. The work cultivates belief systems valuing shifts of perception that alter our relation to reality, and the psychedelic dimensions of lived experiences such as grief, complex trauma and diagnosed difference.

Molly Palmer was Artist in Residence at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, where she exhibited at the Open in 2021 and 2019. She graduated from Royal Academy Schools in 2016, where her exhibition was awarded the Gold Medal. She has exhibited widely at galleries and museums including Akinci Gallery, Amsterdam; 1646, The Hague; Ty Pawb, Wales; Buitenplaats Doornburgh, Utrecht; Dastan Basement, Tehran (2021); TENT, Rotterdam; Somerset House, London; House of Egorn, Berlin; Art Basel Miami Beach; Bikini Wax & MUPO, Mexico and Galeria Vermelho, Sao Paolo. Forthcoming projects include Amulet, a new film commission for Het HEM, Amsterdam, Amnesiac Loop, a research residency and podcast series for Het HEM’s online platform The Couch and a solo presentation at Art Brussels with Akinci Gallery.
