Benefit Performance: De Onzichtbare Verzameling - Genio de Groot

Is a blue chip artwork worth more than a human life? The Berlin antiquarian Georg Reinhardt finds himself between two impossible choices when the wife of a collector turned blind asks for his help. 

Upstream Gallery and Genio de Groot present three benefit theatre performances of 'De Onzichtbare Verzameling' on Friday June 23, Saturday June 24 and Sunday June 25. 
In his 1929 novella 'Die unsichtbare Sammlung', Stefan Zweig questions the relationship between art and integrity in a phenomenal manner. Now, almost 90 years later and against the backdrop of Upstream Gallery, actor Genio de Groot takes his audience into a thriller-like story, in which he, not without humor, shows how the material and spiritual value of an artwork are played against each other. The proceeds of the performance will go to homeless shelter De Kloof (part of De Regenbooggroep); the direct neighbours of Upstream Gallery.
