Lumen Travo is delighted to present work by Ani Eloyan (Armenia,1988) for the first time. Eloyan’s work uses an explosive, unique visual language that is both direct and critical, painted in a loose expressionist style. Her collages stitch together elements from the world of cartoons, comics and popular culture. She freely mixes different styles and associations to comment on themes such as sexual identity, class, aesthetics and social acceptance. Her energetic, playful and humorous scenarios pose serious questions and challenge our perception of recognizable popular comic characters.
