Madé van Krimpen is proud to present In Situ, a solo exhibition by artist Rikkert Paauw. The official opening will be held during the Amsterdam Art Week 2025 Festive Gallery Night on Thursday 22 May between 17:00 and 21:00.
Rikkert Paauw works directly with his surroundings. He collects local objects and transforms them on-site, creating new connections with their context. His installations create a conversation between materials and space, with sustainability as the main focus: nothing is wasted, everything is given a new life.
As an artist, designer, and architect, Paauw reuses what already exists to reshape spaces and objects. His process is careful and purposeful. He turns simple elements into something new, from large-scale installations to pieces for the home. In a natural way, he responds to the environmental challenges of our time.
Without judgement, he lets discarded materials speak for themselves, subtly revealing the value of everyday objects. For his exhibition at Madé van Krimpen, Paauw is temporarily staying in Amsterdam, where he looks for materials. In the gallery, he works with them on-site, making the space itself part of his creative process.
Rikkert Paauw (1982, NL) lives and works in Brussels. His work has been shown in Belgium, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Australia, Austria, and Italy, among other countries.
Admire this extraordinary take on spaces by Paauw and be inspired by his game!
