GRIMM presents an exhibition featuring new artworks by Anders Davidsen (1987, Mariagerfjord, DK) at the gallery in Amsterdam, on view from September 13 to October 12, 2024.
Davidsen lives and works in Knebel (DK), and studied at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen (DK) from 2017 to 2023. His distinctive paintings trace the passage of time, using seascapes as a foundation to explore the effects of atmosphere and light. Images emerge from a setting sun or rising moon resting on the horizon, their rays radiating outward in gentle rhythms. Davidsen merges inner and outer worlds, drawing from memories of his youth spent fishing and swimming in the fjords of northern Denmark. He recalls the shifting patterns of light over the water’s surface, recreating the natural subtlety of these moments in each canvas.
