In Uprooted, artist Puck Verkade takes you into a dreamlike, underground world. A world she creates using handmade sets crafted from recycled cardboard and papier-mâché. The artwork is a life-sized triptych installation, filled with moving images, drawings, sculptures, sound, and performances.
Verkade drew inspiration for this work from her own experience of motherhood and the challenges of bringing a child into the world during an ecological crisis. With Uprooted, she invites you to explore the meaning of care, motherhood, and ecological crisis, while uncovering the many layers of our interconnectedness with the earth. Be inspired by Verkade’s playful, cartoon-like style, which effortlessly blends humour with critical reflection.
Uprooted is the first solo exhibition by an artist in De Nieuwe Schatkamer. Verkade’s practice aligns seamlessly with the core values of De Nederlandsche Bank’s artistic vision: bold, experimental, and innovative.
The exhibition can be visited at De Nieuwe Schatkamer, De Nederlandsche Bank.
