Since 1992, the Thami Mnyele Foundation has hosted a unique artist-in-residence programme in Amsterdam. The residency promotes cultural exchange between artists from Africa, the African diaspora, the Netherlands, and Amsterdam, offering space for artistic development and collaboration.
Open to African artists working in contemporary disciplines such as painting, performance, photography, video and multimedia, the three-month residency provides an inspiring environment to focus on their practice. Based in a historic school building in the heart of Amsterdam, the studio encourages reflection, research, and creative dialogue.
