The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is proud to present 16 projects of emerging artists at Amsterdam Art Week. All participating artists graduated from the independent and internationally oriented art school in Amsterdam in the years 2021, 2022 and 2023. Together, they present multifaceted art works in various media such as ceramics, glass, photography, sculpture, video, sound work, and performance. The artists will show their work on the 1000 square-meters rooftop of one of the three academy buildings – the Fedlev building – from 30 May until 2 June 2024 in Amsterdam.

The building proposes a levitated schoolyard, which shapes the ground on which the artists’ works meet. Having recently graduated, their art works will be presented on the brink of public space: we can see them peeking off the roof from the street, as they look out in distant sightlines. The show is curated by Tirza Kater in collaboration with Public Rietveld & Projects. Tirza Kater is a visual artist and curator, co-founder of the collective artist-run project space Marwan and works at the Fine Arts department at the Rietveld Academie.

Participating artists: Darya Akhrameika, Tasha Arlova, Eve Boontje, Herman Hjorth Berge, Cemre Eraslan in collaboration with Terry Hoekstra, Ingeborg Kraft Fermin & Abel Kars, Josefina Gilardi, Jieun Kim, Novi Otten, Anton Shebetko, Ilya Stasevich, Anna Tamm, Caro de Valk, Marthe Wille, Qiran Xu and Eva van der Zand.

Note: The exhibition will be wheelchair accessible on all days, except for Sunday 2 June. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
