Bradwolff & Partners presents the exhibition Inspiration – Expiration for the opening of the season, which will be officially opened during Gallery Night on Friday 5 September between 17:00 and 20:00.
Inspiration – Expiration explores breath as movement, force, and the measure of time. Two artists from different generations, each with their own visual language, come together in a dialogue between form and stillness, implosion and growth.
Ewerdt Hilgemann works with air as a physical force. His stainless steel sculptures implode under vacuum, undergoing a controlled transformation of form and matter. What appears spontaneous is the result of decades of experience, acute understanding, and precise control over pressure, material, and volume. In this way, the invisible becomes visible: breath, force, time.
Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky approaches breath through nature. Her photography and installations focus on light, leaves, and the passage of seasons. Using techniques such as cyanotype and analogue imaging, she captures subtle forms of growth, transience, and rhythm. Her images breathe slowly.
The title Inspiration – Expiration refers to the rhythm of breathing, but also to the space between inhalation and exhalation — the moment of transformation. In this interval, tangible and imagined worlds meet. Breath becomes a force, an image, a metaphor.
This exhibition invites attentive viewing and reflection. Each work reveals something about how we exist, move, and connect with our surroundings.
“Every breath is a merging of self and world.”
Emanuele Coccia
This exhibition is on view until 25 October 2025.
