19.30 – 22.00
As part of the exhibition Women of Amsterdam – an ode, young makers from Amsterdam are exploring different perspectives on gender, identity, and feminism. Their work will be periodically shown as pop-up exhibitions under the title Girls On Top on Studio Panorama. In doing this, Amsterdam Museum provides a platform for the voices of a new generation.
During Amsterdam Art Week on Friday 23 May, Amsterdam Museum is launching the new mini-expo How You Were Never Born by actress and writer Gaite Jansen. From a young age she has performed big roles in Dutch films and series. She studied at the Toneelacademie Maastricht and played for several years consecutively at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. Since her role in the series Peaky Blinders, she has crossed national borders, combining national and international productions. She wrote the bilingual poetry collection “Ode aan de Onstilbare/Ode tot he Insatiable” and made the short film ‘Beast’.
How You Were Never Born invites you into a world where language, film and image come together to create an immersive experience-a womb-like space where transformation is not only imagined, but can actually be felt.
Gaite Jansen will open her mini-expo on 23 May at 19:30 during AM Late. Visit the mini-expo opening with a ticket for AM Late. The mini-expo can be visited until 1 June with a regular museum ticket.
