“Squeeze me Tighter” a duo solo show by Sanne van Balen en Aaron Harris.

We will be starting off the new gallery season with a duo solo show by artists Sanne van Balen and Aaron Harris. We invited the artists, who did not yet know each other to develop an exhibition concept.
They choose a simple but effective exercise, that of a Cadavre Exquis, they emailed each other a freshly written text daily. Upon completion, the alternating texts turned out to be loosely based on the questions they ask within themselves and each other in their visual work. Song lyrics and narratives from everyday life are woven through it.
Although the technique of the Cadavre Exquis is simple: sending each other a piece of text in turn (without reading the others part), the final text is complex. It mirrors the exhibition, providing a peek into the narrative thoughts of two literary artists. They meet each other in script and images they take from everyday environments, in forgotten corners of laundromats or in streets under construction. In search of a door to open, or a shape for ‘houvast’, Aaron Harris and Sanne van Balen present “Squeeze me tighter”.
