At the core of every thriving ecosystem lies BEDROCK—the solid foundation upon which life takes root. Though seemingly immovable, bedrock is continuously shaped by external forces, erosion, and pressure, influencing the layers above it. In nature, it provides stability while allowing for transformation, serving as both a foundation and a catalyst for change.

Much like a biological ecosystem, the art world is an interconnected network of relationships, where artists, galleries, collectors, and institutions shape and sustain one another over time. To mark its 10-year anniversary, Young Collectors Circle presents BEDROCK, an exhibition that explores the fundamental forces of resistance and resilience—essential qualities for both ecosystems and artistic communities.

In nature, resistance enables survival in the face of disruption, while resilience allows for adaptation and renewal. Similarly, the art world endures and evolves through creative friction, collaboration, and reinvention. How do artistic ecosystems maintain their balance? What role does resistance play in transformation? How do artists, galleries, collectors and institutions cultivate resilience in an ever-changing landscape?

This exhibition is made possible by Young Collectors Circle, Stichting Amsterdam Art and Capital C Amsterdam.
