From 16 December, Rumiko Hagiwara’s light show ‘Ten square metres of shadow’ can be seen at VZL Contemporary Art. With QR code on the windows 24/7, this work, accompanied by her recent small artworks can be seen during the dark days.
Friday evening 19 January and Saturday afternoon 20 January will celebrate the new year with drinks at the gallery. The days getting longer, the lights of these light artworks will go out again. During this Gallery Opening Weekend, it is the last chance to see Rumiko Hagiwara’s light works at the gallery.

This exhibition has been made possible by the generosity of Frits Bergsma, who provided us with the work ‘Ten square metres of shadow’ from his collection.

Rumiko Hagiwara is a Japanese artist based in Amsterdam.
In her conceptual art practice, which includes site-specific installations, photographs, videos and performances, she aims to twist the focal points and values of ordinary phenomena from her cross-cultural perspective, often resulting in a humorous and poetic take on the ordinary.
