It is a feast to be an Amsterdammer, a feast to celebrate! On the occasion of the captial’s 750th anniversary, Arti et Amicitiae is hosting the exhibition Amsterdam built on photographs, where images from the capital over the past fifty years, from 1975 to 2025, can be seen. The exhibition offers a great flashback of these years through the eyes of 20 photographers and artists who see Amsterdam as a part of themselves. This time no tulips from Amsterdam, but images instead, lots of images…
On Saturday, January 18th, from 14:00 to 15:30, the Arti et Amicitae society will hold a lecture event tied to this exhibition, to open the Art Year.
Hans Aarsman on the Amsterdam cityscapes of photographer Arsath Ro’is “Not a picture or he had his moped in view somewhere.”(see picture), Martin Grootenboer on the turbulent, beautiful, painful 80s and Arnold Weel on photo series for the Parool, endlessly walking through the city.
Lecture event: no admission fee. Exhibition rooms: admission fee €5.
