Antonis Pittas, based in Amsterdam, addresses contemporary social and political issues in his work, which is deeply rooted in historical context. His context-sensitive installations draw from architecture, design, art history, and the performative aspects of art. Central to his practice is the interplay between past and present, focusing on themes of destruction, decay, and resistance. He employs the concept of “recycling history” to challenge current assumptions.

Pittas studied in Athens, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, and has been artist-in-residence at Bard College (NY) and soon at ISCP New York (2024). His work has been shown at institutions such as EMST Athens, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Van Abbemuseum, and Mujin-to Productions in Tokyo. He teaches at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and has lectured widely across Europe and the US.
