Joris Montens and his partner Stefan Heinis are the initiators and owners of the Fontana gallery in Amsterdam. The gallery started in 2011 and has grown in ten years into a renowned international gallery for contemporary art. Fontana recently moved into a new space at Lauriergracht 142 in an old chocolate factory (of more than 300 m2). With an idiosyncratic programming by leading artists, they focus on art with the themes of humanity, vulnerability and mortality.
The main ingredient that determines our choice is a strong personal connection with the artwork and the artist. Besides participating in national and international art fairs such as Art Rotterdam, Unseen, Pan, The Ballroom Project Antwerp, Art Berlin, PhotoBasel, and Approche during Paris Photo 2021, we also organized temporary exhibitions in Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Venice.
