Martina Halsema new director of Amsterdam Art

Martina Halsema has been appointed as the new director of Amsterdam Art. She will take over from Nina Folkersma on 1 January. Halsema has been with Amsterdam Art since 2020 as Head of Programme and Partnerships and knows the organisation and the partners associated with Amsterdam Art inside out.

Martina Halsema: “As director, I look forward to further strengthening the connection between the many contemporary art institutions and initiatives the city has to offer. I love Amsterdam for her unique and experimental characteristics. The city is unique because of the presence of residencies like the Rijksakademie and De Ateliers, its galleries, the project spaces and museums where artists can experiment and grow. Amsterdam Art Week brings this unique ecosystem to the attention of a national and international audience. I look forward to collaborating with all participants to strengthen Amsterdam’s position as a contemporary visual arts city and create distinguishing editions of Amsterdam Art Week together.”
