Ron Simpson is a speaker, coach for creatives, and cultural entrepreneur from Amsterdam. He mainly focuses on creating concepts that combine a “cool, cash, and care factor,” such as the Skybox. He is delighted to take on the role of ambassador for Amsterdam Art Week and has kindly shared his insights with us about what to expect during the event, as well as his personal tips to make the most of the experience. In this article, he also talks about Amsterdam as a contemporary art hub, his art collection, and some intriguing aspects of his life that are unknown to many.
As an Amsterdammer and art lover, Ron had many insights to share about the uniqueness of the city. Although Amsterdam feels like the smallest metropolis in the world to him, it has a lot of freedom in society, which has led to a thriving and innovative art scene. He takes pride in the fact that art is everywhere in Amsterdam: it’s on the walls, on the streets, in people’s fashion choices, architecture, fabrics, and Dutch designs.
Ron is a big fan of digital art and the Upstream gallery and the NXT Museum. He has a great passion for photography and modern art, which is why you’ll find many photos ranging from Skulljan to Semuel Souhuwat, pop art pieces like KAWS, bearbricks, and some Streetart Frankey items in his home collection. He also has a wide collection of books, Japanese knife sets, and sneakers!
