Tegenboschvanvreden warmly invites you to the opening of a new group presentation, Provocative and Poetic, in the gallery on Saturday, 2 November, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

We find ourselves in the midst of uncertain times: what we thought we knew is wavering, and the future feels elusive. At the same time, it seems as if time itself has no space to turn into history. Can the notion of change offer stability? If we are in a liminal phase, transitioning from one state to another, there emerges a moment that can evoke both fear and a longing for a (false) sense of stability.

Rituals and myths connect us with the unknown, providing a way to make the world feel like a trustworthy place. In Provocative and Poetic: On the Unifying Power of Art as Ritual, the works of Pélagie Gbaguidi, Krystel Geerts, Lisa Konno, Rita Ponce de Léon, Marien Schouten, and Tessa Weijers present themselves as a visual platform for open contemplation—not only of our current state of being (in the vacuum of transition) but also of the idea that art can function as a ritual marking change. The exhibition advocates for looking, for beauty, and for re-examining our own history, both in content and form, to generate a new perspective.
